What is this color?
Wondering what you’d call the color on this bird? Sorry it’s not the best picture, but should show coloring. IMG_9971.jpeg Father and mother were both what I’ve been calling Opal lace. Not sure if that’s correct. Here is father and grandfather of above bird: IMG_7593.jpeg Mother looks the same as fa...

Re: Names/Genetic makeup of this pair
I'll have to look more into Dominant Opal and it's phenotypes. Would these both be dominant opal even though the cock is much lighter? Any ideas what makes the unique (to me) coloring of the bars on the hen? It was referred to as a gold bar by someone who looked at this same picture, but I'm not sur...

Re: Black shield
Oh, did I mention I developed a new breed that nests on the ceiling?
Not sure why the first picture posted upside down-not sure how to fix that.

Black shield
Hello, I’m working on getting a very dark black shield pigeon. I have what I believe is a blue T-check hen mated with her father who is an ash red carrying blue. I’ve gotten several young blue (blacks) from this pair, but all seem to have lighter marking or even appear bronze-ish. Here’s the hen: IM...

Hello All!
I’ve been on the forum for a couple months now and just realized I never introduced myself. I’m Steven from NE Ohio, USA. I raised pigeons as a boy for close to 10 years, took a break for a while during and after college, and then in the summer of 2021 got some more. I currently have about 70 white ...

Names/Genetic makeup of this pair
Wondering if anyone could suggest what colors/pattern/modifiers are in these two birds? Especially the gold bar hen in the second picture. Last picture is their latest round of youngsters. Any suggestions of what these colors are all called is helpful too-I’m fairly new to the genetics side of pigeo...

Re: Saddles
Thanks for the quick response and confirming that my basic understanding of the color genetics is right so far. :) My plan for this next breeding season was to pair that young blue hen with her father once she's old enough to see if I can get more blues. I also was planning to pair the dilute hen wi...

Saddles
Hi, I'm beginning to breed saddle homing pigeons and am new to pigeon genetics. I wondered if anyone has a good source of information for how saddles are developed? Of all the genetics info I've been able to dig up, there's hardly any mention of saddles. On a more specific note: I have a pair of sad...
