Hi all
Just starting on my genetics journey so please be kind
I’m not sure if the topic of chimeras or so-called mosaics has been covered before I cannot find anything.
My understanding is that it can occur if 2 eggs in one yolk are fertilised by a single sperm and that the “twins” merge into one organism but this is disputed in some of the literature that exists. If this can happen how many chromosomes would the bird have and can it even reproduce?
The other is that a mutation takes place during cell division of the embryo which would make more sense to me.
Anyone out there who knows more about this subject.
