Black shield

Hello,

I’m working on getting a very dark black shield pigeon.
I have what I believe is a blue T-check hen mated with her father who is an ash red carrying blue. I’ve gotten several young blue (blacks) from this pair, but all seem to have lighter marking or even appear bronze-ish.

Any suggestions how to get a darker black? Is it just a matter of a few more generations and getting a tight T-check, or is there other genes that are required.

I’d like to get a solid black shield like these:

Oh, did I mention I developed a new breed that nests on the ceiling?

Not sure why the first picture posted upside down-not sure how to fix that.

I have no idea why sometimes the pics post upside down either... hopefully I can figure it out to fix it!

Anyway, the gene you need for the solid black shields is "spread".
